One of the constant preoccupations of the Politehnica University Timișoara is to provide the best conditions for its students. In this respect, in addition to infrastructure investments, a particular emphasis has been placed on the relationship with the economic environment, for the best possible insertion of the graduates into the labor market, in the specialty they have followed. Many of the UPT facilities, in particular specialized laboratories, have been developed in partnership with economic agents.

One of the companies with which Politehnica has a partnership relationship since 2015 is Honeywell. So far, with the support of this, two laboratories were set up, one at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies and one at the Electrical and Power Engineering faculty, several internship programs were initiated by which the students of Politehnica University Timisoara were able to achieve the bachelor's degree in the company, and with the support of the university the visit to Timişoara of the Nobel Prize winner for Physics, Dr. Robert W. Wilson, who lectured on scientific topics and talked with UPT students in the Honeywell Initiative for Science and Engineering program was organized.

The collaboration with Honeywell does not stop there. On October 17th, the inauguration of a new laboratory with the support of the company took place, this time at the Faculty of Automation and Computing. A total of $ 29,100 was earmarked for the A306 to fit it with electronic equipment (10 logic analyzers, 18 FPGAs, IT infrastructure (18 workstations, 18 monitors)); furniture. The new lab will be used by more than 600 undergraduate and master students to acquire basic concepts, skills and competences in the design, simulation, testing, synthesis and implementation of digital circuits using VHDL hardware description languages.

"The event is part of the efforts made by Politehnica University Timişoara to ensure, on the one hand, the best conditions for study for its students and, on the other hand, well-trained graduates to successfully face the labor market, according to the specialization they have followed. We are glad that these efforts are supported by the economic environment in Timisoara and in the area, which understood the necessity of supporting the university in endowing the specialized laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and apparatus, which would also ensure the applicative part of the students' training. We try to maintain a close relationship with the economic environment and through student internships or support for the development of diploma theses. Collaboration with Honeywell is a very good one from the very beginning, and now, here, we are inaugurating the third collaborative laboratory", said Florin Dragan, PhD, Vice-Rector of Politehnica University Timisoara. He added that at present, the Faculty of Automation and Computing of UPT has exceeded the number of 3,000 students for the first time in its history. Interest in IT disciplines is growing, and for good student training, especially with regard to the application area, such facilities are welcome.

"Honeywell has been present in Romania for over 20 years and we want to contribute to the development of a generation of talented young people who will become the leaders of tomorrow in engineering", says Răzvan Cotiuga, General Manager, Honeywell Elster Timişoara. "We are proud to inaugurate this laboratory with Politehnica University Timişoara, thus contributing to the formation of students willing to work in such fields as research, engineering or mathematics."

On launch, Honeywell representatives also launched a challenge to students: to develop projects by interconnecting the three laboratories at Politehnica University Timişoara, both with each other and with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and the company will finance these projects.
