"Valeriu Alaci " gathers at UPT students interested in mathematics
Politehnica University Timisoara started the enrollments for the 5th edition of the "Valeriu Alaci " National Mathematics Contest, organized in partnership with the Timis County School Inspectorate and addressed to pupils from grades IX-XII in the state and private pre-university education institutions in the country, from urban and rural areas, as well as students from other countries.
It has as main purpose the continuation of the tradition in the mathematical training of the future engineers imposed by the illustrious forerunners among which are Traian Lalescu and Valeriu Alaci. This thorough mathematical training was the basis for the brilliant results obtained by graduate engineers at Politehnica University Timisoara and the acquisition of a remarkable prestige of these at European and world level.
For each of the 9th-12th grades, the Mathematics Competition "Valeriu Alaci " has two sections: mathematics-informatics, respectively sciences of nature / technological / economic.
The qualification round took place on 4th March 2019 between 18-20 o’clock. It is an online test on the www.cv.upt.ro platform.
The final stage of the "Valeriu Alaci " Mathematics Competition is scheduled on April 13, 2019 in the amphitheaters of Politehnica University Timisoara.
Different from the National Mathematics Olympiad, both as content and addressability, the Mathematics Competition "Valeriu Alaci " completes the offer of existing math contests. Relating to technical higher education, so the accuracy and rigor of engineering, this competition proposes solving theoretical / practical answers to multiple choice of fill-in questions, leading to the initiation and deepening of the knowledge of solving these types of requirements.
The award ceremony that will take place on the day of the contest and will consist of giving awards and mentions.
In accordance with the Methodology for organizing and conducting entrance examination cycle of undergraduate studies at the Politehnica University Timisoara, the July 2019 session, candidates for undergraduate studies in UPT, who obtained one of the first three places in the "Valeriu Alaci " Mathematics Competition - edition V, 2019, can be admitted to UPT without participating in the admission contest.
