The students of Politehnica University Timișoara continued, online, throughout this period, the activities they carried out even before the crisis generated by the new coronavirus, and the scientific research represents an important component of the training.

On Thursday, May 21, 2020, the eighth edition of the scientific communication session of the students from the master's programs Communication, Public Relations and Digital Media, respectively Business Communication, managed by the Faculty of Communication Sciences took place online. The event was carried out under the title “The path of new communication. Working hypotheses”.

The masters presented their research results, many of them anchored in the realities of the period we are going through, discussing, for example, the impact of using online questionnaires with an instant response in education and digital interactivity during pandemics, banking in Romania and social responsibility actions in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic, about the online communication channels in different companies from Timișoara, about the promotion of the project “Timișoara - European Capital of Culture 2021”, respectively about the online and offline promotion of different businesses (bookstores, clothing workshops, real estate, educational packages, etc.).

The scientific committee of the conference, made up of prestigious teachers, appreciated that this edition of the student communications session not only prepares master students to complete their studies and obtain a master's degree in communication sciences but also offers them a good training for the transition from school to active life. The state of emergency, as well as the state of alert established in many countries of the world, has demonstrated how important the capacity to react, the rapid adaptation to crises, and the efficient communication through online and offline channels truly are.

The masters of the Faculty of Communication Sciences from UPT have demonstrated that they face the challenges of digital communication and that they can critically analyze the communication/promotion campaigns carried out during this period, formulating, for some of the cases presented, optimization suggestions.

The best papers will be published in the journal MASTERCOM - Politehnica Graduate Student Journal of Communication, an open access scientific publication that facilitates the dissemination of research results of FSC master students. The main mission of the journal is to encourage students with research potential who want to improve their analytical thinking skills, to prepare them for further professional training, by accessing doctoral studies and to contribute to the development of the scientific community at Politehnica University Timisoara.
