INCOMING STUDENTS 2019-2020

NOTICE!

To prevent possible spreading of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 we advise international students to postpone traveling outside Timisoara (and in particular international trips), to avoid crowded places and to keep in touch with the Department for International Relations mainly by e-mail at incoming@upt.ro.

3. Nomination

Students must be nominated by their home university (either by the departamental coordinator, or their International Office) by e-mail at incoming@upt.ro.  The nomination e-mail must contain the following information:

a) The mobility programme (Erasmus+, EEA grants, CEEPUS, bilateral agreement, double-degree programme etc.)

b) Name and surname of the student

c) E-mail of the student

d) The semester in which his/ her mobility is expected to take place (1st / 2nd)

e) Study cycle of the student at the home university (Bachelor, Master, PhD)

f)  Study field of the student at the home university

Nomination deadlines: May 20th (first semester), November 20th (second semester). Late nominations and student application files that arrive after the deadlines will be processed if time allows.


4. Student application

After the student has been nominated, he/she needs to prepare and submit the following documents:

2. Accommodation form. Please keep in mind that if you choose to stay in the student residence you will have to comply with the regulations of this lease contract .

3. Copy of ID document

4. Copy of passport (only for non-EU citizens)

3. Learning agreement - only if you come for a study mobility. You can use the form provided by your home university or you can download it by clicking here.

4. Training agreement - only if you come for a placement mobility. You can use the form provided by your home university or you can download it by clicking here.

The academic offer of the university can be found here: http://www.upt.ro/Upt-Timisoara_-study-programmes_32_en.html. The student may choose only courses offered in the semester in which the mobility is expected to take place. If the student chooses courses from different study cycles or from different study programmes / faculties he/she should be aware that courses may overlap in the timetable.

The application documents will be filled in and signed by each incoming student. The learning or training agreement has to be pre-approved by the home university as well.

The application documents will be submitted by e-mail to incoming@upt.ro in a single PDF file named: “SURNAME Name_University of origin”.

All incoming exchange students have to send their application forms before the following deadlines:
Fall semester: May 20th, Spring semester: November 20th.

Student application files that arrive after the deadlines will be processed if time allows.


5. Acceptance letter

The letter of acceptance and the approved learning/training agreement will be sent by e-mail to the candidate within 5 weeks of the deadline.

NOTE: Once students are accepted, they must provide copies of insurances (health, accident and civil liability) valid for the entire duration of their stay in Romania. In addition, students required to obtain study visas will need to submit copies of the visas before their arrival.


6. Accommodation and enrolment 

Accommodation in student residences can be provided at the earliest 4 days before the beginning of the academic year. For details see section 2.3. of the Information guide for international students and staff 2019-2020.

Registration is done at the Department for International Relations (UPT Rectorate, Piata Victoriei n. 2, 1st floor, office 107) from Monday to Thursday between 12:00 and 15:30, and on Friday between 11:00 and 13:00. For details see section 3.2. of the Information guide for international students and staff 2019-2020.


7. During the mobility

Students must attend at least 2/3 of all lectures and 100% of all laboratory classes, seminars and project classes foreseen for each course mentioned in their Learning Agreements. In order to obtain the credit points, the student must pass the examinations and complete all the required activities from the laboratory, seminars, or project classes. Professors communicate how the final grade will be calculated during the first course at the start of each semester. The type of evaluation (colloquium, project, oral or written exam) is stated in the study programme syllabus. Students are expected to participate at all the meetings with their academic coordinator in UPT, and to take part in different academic and social activities.


8. End of the mobility

Students are expected to inform the Erasmus+ office of their planned departure date, and to pick up their certificate of attendance on the last working day before their departure.
