Academic Matters

Registration

You must go to register as a student at the University, before you are able to attend classes or use the library and computing facilities, as well as all other University services.

After your arrival, you should register with:
· The Socrates Office. You should carry with you any documents providing your participation in the Socrates Programme, signed by the coordinator responsible for the respective agreement.
· The Secretariat of the faculty concerned, where you will be provided with a student identity card. For this you will need 2 photgraphs.

Course Enrolment

You are expected to take the courses shown on the Learning Agreement you sent with your Socrates Application.

Assessment and examinations

In most subjects studied, assessment and grades will be based on written examinations at the end of the course, or/and interviews with the teachers, generally twice a month (in the case of work for the diploma paper).

Certificates and Transcripts of Records

A transcript of your results will be issued for you at the end of your period of study. Transcripts list all the courses you have taken and show your coursework and examination marks, together with credits and grades.

The University has a credit system in which a full academic year for undergraduate students consists of 60 credits. You should take sufficient courses to ensure that you achieve a full quota of credits for your period of study.

Accommodation

Socrates students are being hosted, on demand, in the University Campus, at a small charge, based on the periods communicated by them in the Housing Application Form.
Prices, subject to changes: single or double rooms, 30 USD / month/student
The rent should be paid every month in advance, and no reimbursement will be made in case of early departure.

Arrival

Once we have received the student's application form, the student will receive a letter or fax informing her/him of the possible places that have been booked for them. It is necessary to indicate the arrival date on the application form, since the lodging will only be available on the mentioned date.

University's Sports Facilities

A great number of football, handball, basketball, voleyball, and tennis courts and halls are made available for students. There are also fitness and aerobic halls, and swimming facilities.

Visa Arrangements

A 30 days visa is granted on the arrival, for EU students. Within this period, students should apply for a student visa, at the Passport Office in Timisoara . Although, students are advised to check it with the Romanian Consular Services in their own country, before coming to Romania.
