Ambassador of Mexico at UPT
A surprise gift for Timisoara
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to Romania, ES Jose Guillermo Ordorica Robles, was on March 5, 2019, in Timisoara, where he began the twinning process of the municipality of Bega with the Cancun city of Mexico at Timisoara City Hall, after which he visited Politehnica University Timisoara.
The first stop was at the UPT Rectorate, where he accompanied a delegation of representatives of the Spanish speaking states: Anaeli Victorica Razo, Consul of the United Mexican States in Bucharest, Dr. Adrian Badescu, Honorary Consul of the United Mexican States in Timisoara, Jose Miguel Vinals Arino, Honorary Consul of Spain in Timisoara, and Rufino Delgado Montenegro, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Peru in Timisoara. In the boardroom of the UPT Rectorate, they discussed with the vice-rectors, prof. eng. Marius Otesteanu, PhD, and lect. eng. Florin Dragan, PhD, as well as with the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, prof. Daniel Dejica-Cartiş, PhD, about the possibilities of collaboration with universities in Mexico. They also signed in UPT's honor book and agreed on a cultural collaboration between the United Mexican States Embassy in Romania and Politehnica University Timisoara.
At the end of the visit, ES Jose Guillermo Ordorica Robles had a meeting with the students at the Central Library of Politehnica University Timisoara, presenting both the less known history of Mexico and the current situation, including the higher education system and the study opportunities there.
On this occasion, the United Mexican States Ambassador to Romania has also announced a gift to both UPT students and all Timisoara students. The Mexican film "Rome," which won the Oscar 2019 Award for Best Foreign Film, Best Director and Best Picture, was offered to be screened at the UPT Library with free entry.
