A delegation from Politehnica University Timisoara, composed of prof. eng. Marius Oteşteanu, PhD, Vice-Rector, and prof. Daniel Dejica-Cartis, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, was in late May in China at the invitation of the University Dianzi Hangzhou (HDU). The collaboration between the two higher education institutions was opened in March 2019 when a delegation from the Chinese University visited the Timisoara Polytechnic, UPT being the first university in Central and Eastern Europe with which it established a partnership.

At the headquarters of Dianzi University in Hangzhou, the Romanian delegation was welcomed by the President of the University Council, Wang Xingjie, Rector Zhu Zefei and Vice-Rector Zheng Ning, and a bilateral co-operation agreement was signed by prof. eng. Marius Oteşteanu, PhD, from UPT, and Zhu Zefei from HDU, in a festive setting, where the traditional Sino-Romanian friendship was emphasized and the hope that the collaboration relations between the universities will develop with fruitful results for both sides.

The Romanian delegation visited, on this occasion, the faculties of Electronics, Computers, Information Engineering, and Communication Sciences, which are also the main areas for future collaboration. The recently signed agreement provides the basis for future joint projects aimed at organizing summer schools, engaging in research projects, making bilateral exchanges of teachers and students, or exchanging cultural affairs, granting double degrees.

Located in the historical and cultural city of Hangzhou, China, Dianzi University in Hangzhou is a 30,000-student higher education institution offering several fields of study including engineering, science, economics, management, linguistics, law and education. Even if it focuses on the fields of electronics and computer science, the university pays special attention to business management. The predecessor of the university is the Hangzhou Aviation School of Finance and Economics, founded in 1956. In 1980, the Hangzhou Electronic Engineering Institute was established, which was later renamed Dianzi University in Hangzhou in 2004.
