Zoltan Rajnai, Honorary Professor at UPT

The Senate of Politehnica University Timișoara has decided to confer the title of Honorary Professor to prof. eng. Zoltan Rajnai, PhD, from Obuda University in Budapest, Hungary. The honorary title was held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, in the Council Room of the UPT Rectorate. The decision to award the title of Honorary Professor was made at the proposal of the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics within the Faculty of Automation and Computers, based on the constant and fruitful collaboration with prof. eng. Zoltan Rajnai, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Security in Engineering Donat Banki, Obuda University, and responsible, at the request of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, for planning the engineering security training.

During the awarding ceremony, prof. eng. Zoltan Rajnai, PhD also had a presentation on the governmental measures to coordinate cyber security in Hungary.

Prof. eng. Zoltan Rajnai, PhD graduated from the Miklos Zrinyi Military Academy in 1993 and also worked as a university lecturer at the institution he graduated from and at the National Defense University Miklos Zrinyi, the predecessor of the National University for Civil Service. Since 1999 he has been involved in international research projects related to the field of information security. He is the founder of cyber security education at Obuda University.

Collaboration of prof. eng. Zoltan Rajnai, PhD with Politehnica University Timișoara, though relatively recent, is continuous, stable and fruitful. The bases of the collaboration were established in 2015, with the initiation of common research topics between Politehnica University Timișoara and Obuda University. He is also one of the signatories of the new collaboration agreement between Politehnica University Timișoara and Obuda University of Budapest. He expressed his openness and interest for setting up and supporting with both logistics and know-how, for establishing a master's degree in collaboration with UPT, on the topic of software development for information management.
