Knowledge transfer to young researchers
Politehnica University Timișoara, as coordinator of the SIRAMM project (Structural Integrity and Reliability of Advanced Materials obtained through additive Manufacturing) organized, on January 24, 2021, the festive opening of the first edition of the "Trends on Additive Manufacturing for Engineering Applications" Winter School, scheduled to take place between January 24 and 28, 2021, with the participation of over 150 students, master students, doctoral students, teachers and researchers from 21 countries, on 4 continents (Europe, Asia, North America, and South America). The event took place in a hybrid system, with the participants from Timișoara being physically present at the Conference Center of University, and the others online.
During the opening ceremony, the rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, associate professor eng. Florin Dragan, Ph.D., project coordinator, prof. eng. Liviu Marșavina, Ph.D., vice-rector, and dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering within UPT, associate professor eng. Virgil Stoica, Ph.D., welcomed the attendees.
Project lecturers are internationally renowned researchers in the field of additive manufacturing, fatigue, integrity, and durability of structures in the project partner countries: Romania, Italy, Norway, Serbia, and the Czech Republic. During the Winter School, they passed on their knowledge to researchers at the beginning of their careers, to improve their skills in the mentioned fields, the transfer of knowledge from experienced and internationally recognized researchers to their younger colleagues at the beginning of the career, being, in fact, the purpose of the entire SIRAMM project.
It also includes teachers and Ph.D. student exchanges, the organization of summer/winter schools, workshops, seminars for students and companies, and two international conferences.
The winter school had scheduled courses, practical activities, laboratories, and at the end, a graduation exam.
