The coronavirus pandemic has reduced face-to-face interaction with potential students. It was difficult for teachers to go to high schools to present the educational offer, so it was necessary to rethink the methods of recruiting students. This year, Politehnica University Timișoara has moved in a virtual setting and any student in the country could connect and participate in the most innovative educational fair organized so far by a Romanian university.
For the EduExpoUPT fair, the building of the Rector's Office of Politehnica University Timișoara was rebuilt in the virtual world. Basically, students who want to find out useful information about the educational offer of the faculties within UPT can access the link https://eduexpo.upt.ro from the computer and will be virtually transported in front of Lloyd's Palace (the historical name of the building), and from there step into the fair. Each faculty has an exposed offer, and students have the opportunity to get in touch with professors. They can ask questions and have access to all the information needed to make one of the most important decisions for their future, with the help of specialists willing to guide them.
"It is safe to say that such a fair is one of the benefits of the pandemic. Namely, the change of mentalities in education, the search for new forms or models of expression, in accordance with technological evolution. For us, it is an easier way to make our educational offer known, using what we master very well: technology. We are glad that, beyond the students, such a presentation will now be much better understood by parents, i.e., people who participate in making such decisions about the future of young people. We will continue to innovate in education, as we do in technology, because it defines the first century of our university”, said assoc. prof. Florin Dragan, Ph.D., rector of Politehnica University Timisoara.
It is important to know that any student in the country can attend EduExpo, and the interest shown so far is high. So far, students from the west of the country have enrolled, but also young people from counties located at a considerable distance from Timișoara, a sign that Politehnica University Timișoara is an important point on the map of Romanian higher education. Basically, this method of promoting the educational offer aims to eliminate the distance barrier between the university environment and the student who must have all the information before making the most important decision for his future.
Overview of EduExpoUPT
10 faculties, 29 undergraduate fields and 53 specializations are waiting to be discovered at ExpoEdu, the virtual educational fair organized for the first time by Politehnica University Timișoara.
EduExpo is addressed to all people (students, parents, teachers, etc.) eager to find out information about the educational offer of UPT, but also the many opportunities that a UPT student enjoys.
Between May 25 and 27, 2021, between 12:00 and 20:00, visitors will be able to explore the stands of the faculties, where informative materials have been prepared and at the same time will be able to talk live with the representatives of each faculty.
Moreover, between 14:00 and 18:00 there will be live meetings on Zoom with the representatives of each faculty. At the end of each presentation, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions.
