100 high school students came to Electronics Summer University, at UPT
On Monday, August 22, 2022, the Auditorium Hall of the Politehnica University Timisoara Conference Center hosted the official opening of the seventh edition of Electronics Summer University (ESU). ESU is a summer school for 11th-grade high school students and is organized by the Students Organization in the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunication, the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Information Technology, and companies the faculty collaborates with. 100 students from all over the country participated in the event in Timisoara.
The project, which lasts until September 4, 2022, gives high school students the opportunity to experience student life for two weeks. It is an event which combines “business and pleasure” through activities that aim to help the high school students grow both personally, and profesionally.
During the summer school, the students gain new, useful skills. They also expand the knowledge they gained in high school and consolidate it on a more clear path. Last but not least, ESU is an opportunity for them to meet other young people with similar interests and build friendships with future university colleagues.
During the opening, Prof. Dr. Eng. Daniel Dan, Ph.D., UPT vice-rector, welcomed the students to Politehnica Timisoara and presented a short history of the university and what it represents at the national and international level.
On behalf of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Eng. Dan Lascu, Ph.D., the dean, presented the faculty, the study programs and the facilities it offers, and Timisoara’s place as a pillar of electronics and microelectronics, in close connection with the economic sector. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Muguraș Mocofan, vice-dean, highlighted the momentum electronics and microelectronics had gained in the last years.
The director of the UPT Career Guidance and Counseling Center, Florin Bodin, involved in the organization of Electronics Summer University, introduced the students to the classes they would take on personal development and career planning.
