A new challenge and exhibit for the students from the Faculty of Architecture at UPT

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the main lobby of the UPT Library hosted the opening of the Multi-functional Furniture exhibit. The event showcases the projects the first-year Interior Design and Furniture students’ from the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning within Politehnica University Timisoara had made for their Design 2 class.

The students were challenged to let their imagination roam free and decorate an imaginary, 45 square meters space in a historical building from the city center. The main requirement was to design a multi-purpose space for two people, whose profiles were different from one student to another. As such, a wide variety of custom solutions were designed, from a tailoring workshop to a space for a couple expecting a baby.

The projects are the result of the work the students did for a semester, guided by Lect. Dr. Arch. Andreea Anghel, Ph.D., Lect. Dr. Arch. Otilia Tudoran, Ph.D., teaching assistant Dr. Arch. Irina Mohora, Ph.D., and Arch. Andi Andrei Buftea. The projects’ implementations had to consider everything down to the smallest details, such as furniture accessories.

The exhibit is open in the UPT Library lobby until mid-July and is made of the best projects from Task 2 (the project that tackles the apartment’s decoration) and the projects that were graded with 10 from Task 3, which tackled the issue of designing the multi-functional furniture.
