Between two major competitions, the Ukrainian Foil National Team trained at Politehnica University Timisoara with the Romanian Team

At the request of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation, Politehnica University Timisoara supported the Ukrainian foil delegation by providing accommodation and meals at Politehnica House no. 2 between 9-13 April 2022.

It is worth mentioning that on April 9, 2022, they arrived from the Dubai World Championship and on April 13, 2022 they left for the Belgrade stage of the World Cup.

Taking advantage of the Ukrainian team’s presence, the Romanian team also lodged at Politehnica House no. 2 and carried out a joint training program. The Romanian team is made of: Teodora Sîrbu (CSU Politehnica Timișoara), Emilia Corbu (CSTA București) and Anca Săveanu (Steaua) and is trained by Ana Pavel and coordinated by Petre Ducu. In previous years, Emilia Corbu was part of the CSU Politehnica team in the Europe Cup.

Ukraine won gold at the team competition in the World Cup that took place in Timisoara during 4-5 December 2021, organized in celebration of 100 years of sports activity at Politehnica.

Politehnica University Timisoara has offered support for Ukrainian refugees as early as February by providing 120 seats in dormitories.
