Handball players from SCM Politehnica Timişoara presented the Romanian Cup

Great joy and emotion on March 25 at the UPT Library, where the handball players from SCM Politehnica Timişoara all came to present the Romanian Cup, which they won after 33 years.

Politehnica Timişoara played Sunday, March 10, 2019, in Focsani, the Romania Cup final of men's handball. Supported by an admirable gallery, the students of Montenegrin Pero Milosevic led the whole match and triumphed against Steaua, 31-27, after 15-14 at break time! Captain Cristian Fenici was handed the trophy, the players received medals, and Marius Sadoveac was named the Final Four MVP. Thus, Timisoara qualified for the next season of European Cups!

At the UPT University event, where Politehnica University Timisoara has honored the tradition of over 70 years of white-and-violet students' handball, was attended by the leadership of the institution, the sponsors of the team, but also people who, over the years, have worked in the Politehnica handball section, one of the most important Romanian men’s handball. It was pointed out that, unlike the previous Cup, the one in 1986, there are a lot more players in Timisoara and it is hoped that this year's national title will be conquered!

Rector of Politehnica University Timisoara, prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Şerban, PhD, who received from the handball team, as a sign of gratitude for his support, a replica of the Cup, expressed the joy that the spirit of Politehnica lives on, and the white-violet colors are again at a great height.

The event ended with a superb concert by West Phoenix Cover, which featured both legendary Phoenix and Serbian songs, as a tribute to the numerous Serbian players in the team and coach Pero Milosevic. Thus, the songs of "Djurdjevdan", Bijelo Dugme, and "Bella Ciao", by Goran Bregovic, echoed.
