Dr. Diana Andone, the director of the ID/IFR and Digital Education Department at Politehnica University Timișoara, has been elected to the position of Vice President within the global association IEEE Education Society.

With a solid career in research, innovation, and education, Dr. Diana Andone has made a significant impact in promoting advanced digital technologies and online education. She is widely recognized for her outstanding contributions in fields such as open education, virtual and augmented reality, digital learning, the development of interactive applications, and artificial intelligence in education.

As the director of the ID/IFR and Digital Education Department and a lecturer at Politehnica University Timișoara, Dr. Diana Andone was chosen for her recognized expertise and dedication to promoting innovation and excellence in engineering education on a global scale.

Originally elected for the term 2021-2023 as a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Education Society, Dr. Diana Andone was re-elected in August 2023 for the same position. Simultaneously, through global online elections, she became the Vice President responsible for conferences, workshops, and events, becoming the first member from Romania to hold such a position. In 2021, Dr. Andone received the "Distinguished Chapter Leadership" award from the IEEE Education Society for promoting and implementing e-learning activities and innovative contributions to digital education and the promotion of the IEEE Association in Romania. She is also a member of the Executive Committee, responsible for education in the IEEE Romania Association. At the end of 2023, IEEE also named Dr. Andone a "Distinguished Lecturer" for 2024-2025, recognizing annually the most active and well-known professionals.

Politehnica University Timișoara celebrated the first century of university education in Timișoara in 2020, having been established by Royal Decree by King Ferdinand on November 11, 1920. Politehnica University Timișoara, an advanced research and education institution, is today one of the Romanian schools with a rich tradition, recognized nationally and internationally, both through the activity of generations of teaching staff and the exceptional work of prestigious academics. The university's 10 faculties offer study programs for approximately 13,500 students.
