The Romanian Alliance of Technical Universities - ARUT, met on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in a festive online meeting to celebrate the Centenary of Politehnica University Timisoara, established by the Decree of King Ferdinand I of November 11, 1920. The alliance formed by Politehnica University of Bucharest, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Technical University "Gheorghe Asachi" Iasi, the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest and Politehnica University Timisoara was established in 2017 to represent both a collaboration platform for the most prestigious universities with a technical profile in the country, as well as a common voice, strong and dedicated to optimizing education and research policies.

The anniversary meeting was also an opportunity to get to know the new management teams resulting from the academic elections from the beginning of this year, the five universities being represented by rectors, vice-rectors, presidents of university senates, and general administrative directors.

All those present addressed messages of congratulations and wishes to the Timisoara Polytechnic on the 100th anniversary of its establishment, emphasizing its role in the development of the city and the area, but also the national and international affirmation, through the quality of academic performance, research, and graduates from all over the world.

At the same time, during the meeting, it was proposed that professor eng. Viorel-Aurel Șerban, Ph.D., the former rector of UPT, the initiator, soul, and president of ARUT since its establishment and until now to become honorary president of the Romanian Alliance of Technical Universities.
