Exactly a year after inaugurating three laboratories set up by FORVIA HELLA Romania at Politehnica University Timișoara, the automotive company invests again in the higher education institution, reaffirming the close collaboration between UPT and the Timișoara economic sector, but also the company’s constant involvement in supporting education, as part of the social responsibility program “Hella for Education”. This year’s investment, worth 80,000 euro, entailed equipping one of the laboratories inaugurated the previous year – the Reverse Engineering and Quick Prototyping Lab from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering within UPT – with new, cutting-edge instruments that are also used by the company; also, the company set up two new informatics laboratories from the ground up, one at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering and Information Technology, and the other at the Faculty of Automation and Computing.

The investment involved setting up some spaces starting from a design that combines harmony, warm, nature-inspired colors, comfortable furniture items, equipping them with basic IT equipment for running hybrid courses, in comfortable conditions for the teacher and students, offering thus a pleasant, cheerful, clean space, in which one wished they were present. The modernization of the laboratories involved a complete redevelopment, furnishing, adding air conditioning, equipment for broadcasting online courses, smart boards, high-performance web cameras, projectors, etc.

The students were urged to complete their theoretical training, with access to the latest technologies. HELLA representatives also presented them with internship or summer practice offers.

At the unveiling of the new laboratories were present, on behalf on FORVIA HELLA Romania, Gelu Murariu – general director, Nicoleta Tudor – communications director, Ciprian Tarnu – HELLA Technical Center Timișoara director, Sergiu Groapă – development director at HELLA Special Original Equipment Timișoara, Rareș Tecsa – HELLA Laboratories Project Implementation Coordinator, Florin Mărăcineanu – HELLA Laboratories concept designer, and on behalf of Politehnica University Timișoara, assoc. prof. dr. eng. Florin Drăgan, Ph.D., rector, assoc. prof. dr. eng. Virgil Stoica, Ph.D. – dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, prof. dr. eng. Dan Lascu Florentin, Ph.D. – dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering and Information Technology, assoc. prof. dr. eng. Adriana Albu, Ph.D. – director of the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics, Faculty of Automation and Computing, lecturer dr. eng. Cristian Cosma, Ph.D. – director of the Department of Material and Manufacturing Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Victoria Cociotă – director of the  Department of Communication and Image.

The general director of FORVIA HELLA Romania, himself a graduate of Politehnica University Timișoara, like 70% of the employees, declared at the innauguration event: “We have a special relation with Politehnica University Timișoara, most of my colleagues, who are in the technical sector of the company, are graduates of these faculties and we strive to contribute to a better experience in the learning process and the training of future generations.”

The rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, assoc. prof. dr. eng. Florin Drăgan, Ph.D., emphasized that besides the modernization efforts the institution he leads carries out from its own funds, such investments from companies complete the student training infrastructure, but, more importantly, they reaffirm Politehnica’s role of technological hub in the region, providing the private sector with students that are trained for their requirements: “It is natural, after all, they want the best graduates, and besides our own investments and projects we win, be it from local, regional or national funds, for equipping or modernizing various spaces, it is always good that companies provide special equipment specific to their activity because they want our graduates to be ready to work for specific companies when they finish their studies.”

On this occasion, the representatives of FORVIA HELLA Romania also visited other landmarks at Politehnica University Timișoara, identifying other projects that could be implemented in collaboration in the future.
