They had a glass of champagne online, 40 years after graduating from college

The graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Politehnica University Timișoara, the specializations Thermal Machines and Railway Rolling Stock, class of 1980, organized on Friday, May 22, 2020, for the first time, the 40th anniversary meeting after graduating in an online setting.

Even if they could raise a glass of champagne only behind a computer screen, in the current conditions generated by the coronavirus pandemic, the joy of the reunion was great, especially because colleagues who are thousands of miles away, who could not arrive at a face-to-face meeting, were able to see each other again.

The two specializations, even if they have changed their name a little over time, are the oldest in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, being founded in 1948. Among the esteemed professors of the two specializations, we mention Ioan Bejan, Gavril Creța, Traian Raica, Corneliu Ungureanu, Helmuth Theil, Vasile Berindean, Dan Negru, Virgiliu Dan Negrea (from the specialization of Thermal Machines), Ioan Zăgănescu, Gligor Muntean, Costache Ursu, Ioan David, Aurel Negreanu, Vasile Hoancă (from the specialization Railway Rolling Stock).

During the online meeting, the graduates of 40 years ago fondly remembered, with the help of the posted photos, the student years, the festive course, the banquet at the end of the faculty, but also the meetings that were organized at 25 and 30 years after graduation.

And the colleagues from Timișoara prepared for those who went to other lands a pleasant surprise, by posting new pictures from the faculty and the park arranged behind it.
