UPT representatives at TU Munich anniversary

Reconfirmation of good collaboration

Since 1993, Politehnica University Timisoara has started a collaboration with the Technical University of Munich - the "German University Number One" according to QS World University Ranking - a relationship that has deepened in time through the award of double diplomas, mutual visits, exchanges of students and professors, and research partnerships.

The good cooperation relations between the two universities were reconfirmed in the first part of June 2018, when a delegation of UPT made up of prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Şerban, PhD, the rector of the institution, lecturer eng. Florin Dragan, PhD, vice-rector, and lecturer eng. Eduard Petzek, PhD, the UPT responsible for the cooperation program with the German University, attended the invitation of the President of the Technical University of Munich, prof. Wolfgang Hermann, PhD, at events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the founding of TU Munich.

Under the auspices of "TUM - 150 Years of Culture of Excellence", within the international symposium held on this occasion, discussions took place on the policies of universities in promoting and encouraging young talent, on the participation and the engagement of stakeholders in the context of the globalization of the labor market, as well as the role of technical universities in developing a quality education system.

During the meetings that took place between the representatives of Politehnica University Timişoara and the President of the Technical University of Munich, as well as of other universities present at the event, he stressed the importance of the development of interuniversity partnerships as a first step in the creation of European university networks (the concept of European University proposed by the President of France) with a view to accessing the new European funding schemes (Horizon Europe framework program).
