"A Drop for Life" - a blood donation campaign

The Blood Donation Campaign "A Drop for Life", organized by the Politehnica University Timișoara in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Center Timișoara between November 13 and 17, concludes the series of events in the Politehnica Week, which marked the 97th anniversary of the existence of UPT.

According to the organizers, the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Politehnica University Timișoara, at the end of the campaign, donated over 120 people, students, and teachers, from which resulted in 50 liters of blood.

The organizers also assumed the task of informing the public about the importance of a blood supply in the hospitals in our county, as well to make them aware and sensitizing of the students about the blood donation. It is necessary to understand that this biological product does not have a price, and the act of donation comes to support the medical system in order to save many human lives.

"We thank the students for their altruistic gesture. The action was a success especially in the light of the fact that the students were aware that by the blood donation we help the patients in the hospitals. From the blood of a donor, three people can be helped and saved. Blood donation should continue outside of these campaigns, given that the existing reserve at this point is far below the need, "said Dr. Rodica Lighezan, director of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center in Timișoara.
