A new reason for pride. A professor at UPT, EFMI President

European recognition of the value of teachers is always a reason for pride for Politehnica University Timisoara, which confirms the spirit of quality work promoted in UPT, a higher education institution ranked in the group of advanced education and research.

A new recognition in this regard has taken place recently. Mrs. Prof. eng. Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, PhD, a professor at the Faculty of Automation and Computing at Politehnica University Timişoara, took over the chair of the European Federation of Medical Informatics - EFMI, for a two-year term (2018-2020) at an impressive ceremony of passing on of the EFSA Presidents’ Great girdle. The ceremony took place on October 16, 2018, at the International Conference MIE-STC 2018 held in Zagreb, Croatia.

Mrs. Professor was elected EFMI president by the Federation Council at the MIE 2018 Conference in Goteborg, Sweden in April 2018, being the second president elected directly by vote. For her, for our University, for our city and for Romania, it is a rewarding, prestigious professional position, a reflection of the rich and valuable activity of the teacher and the team in which she operates. Mrs. Prof. eng. Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, PhD, considers this personal success as a Romanian success, being her gift to Romania 100.

EFMI is a prestigious professional organization, a federation of national associations. It aims at enhancing international cooperation and promoting research, education and high standards in this highly interdisciplinary field. EFMI functions as a regional body of IMIA (International Medical Informatics Association). EFMI President automatically becomes the IMIA Vice President for two years after the two-year term.
