An example of good practice in UPT's relationship with the economic environment
A ”seed" planted several years ago by Politehnica University Timisoara has grown, grew nicely and now shows its fruits. In 1994, UPT's Business Incubator was founded by Beespeed Automatizări SRL, a small company with several employees, graduates of the UPT. From the very beginning, Politehnica University Timișoara offered its consultancy and provided specialized engineers who were employed in the company. Gradually, Beespeed Automatizări grew, became a partner of UPT, and good relationships materialized with the establishment of a Automotive Engineering Center as a result of the signing, in 2007, of a collaboration agreement between Politehnica University Timișoara, Beespeed Automatizări and TRW Automotive.
Subsequently, both TRW Automotive and the engineering center of Beespeed Automation were incorporated into the ZF Group Germany. In 2017, the German group, which also took good cooperation with Politehnica University Timișoara, decided to bring the Automotive Engineering Center in Timisoara to the global standards of the company, and since then we have witnessed an exponential development of it.
The successful partnership developed between Politehnica University Timișoara and the ZF Group during the years of collaboration has recently registered a new stage. In June 2019, the new working point of SC Beespeed Technical Engineering Center, part of ZF Group Germany, was inaugurated. The work point was based on an investment of the German company in the rented space of the building owned by UPT - Corpul R, Bulevardul Republicii nr. 9.
Following the new investment, the number of jobs has doubled and a perspective for a new stage of development is being created. ZF Group Leadership, present in Timisoara, visited the Lifelong Education and Technology Transfer Center - UPT Library, which also organized a working meeting. Following discussions with representatives of UPT leadership – prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Şerban, PhD, Rector, prof. eng. Daniel Dan, PhD and assoc. prof. eng. Florin Dragan, PhD, Vice-Rectors - it was agreed that UPT will provide postgraduate specialty courses for engineers, the ZF Group to apply for doctoral research topics in partnership with the university and the premises of a new didactic and research laboratory were created.
It is an example of good practice in the relation of Politehnica University Timișoara with the economic environment. In addition, UPT has always cultivated partnerships with the business community in Timisoara and the area, as proof of this being the establishment in 2012 of the Steering Committee, a consultative body of representatives of large companies, which offers UPT consulting in order to update curricula, educational programs, but also to provide students and graduates with internships, practice stages and jobs.
