The introduction of new multimedia technologies is part of the mission to teach skills in the 21st century; multimedia is an example of the type of resource that will transform today's universities into state-of-the-art learning centers and provide communities with access to technologies that will have a significant impact in areas such as education, scientific research, architecture, manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, etc. The role of multimedia technologies in universities is to create a more realistic perception of users in the dynamic context of learning through a greater diversity of expression of digital resources and to stimulate learning through practical projects.

In today's world, where online education has become a necessity, where research, dissemination of results, implementation of projects require more and more digital resources and skills, it is increasingly necessary to train the staff of institutions in this field. Politehnica University Timisoara coordinates a project that aims to develop a set of means for training university staff in the creation and efficient use of multimedia technologies. A first online meeting of the partners of the MUST project - Multimedia Competencies for University Staff to Empower University - Community Collaborations took place this week.

The UPT team, coordinated by prof. eng. Anca Drăghici, Ph.D., supported by the departments of International Relations, Communication and Image, Financial-Accounting and the e-Learning Center, met online with representatives of partner universities (Universidad de Alicante - Spain, Kaunas University of Technology - Lithuania, International School for Social and Business Studies - Slovenia, South East European University Tetovo - Northern Macedonia), but also with experts (project partners) in the creation of digital resources, communication, and multimedia technologies (Storytellme - Portugal, SoWiBeFo - Germany).

The purpose of this meeting was to establish the framework for collaboration and implementation of the MUST project, the presentation of the potential and expectations of each partner, as well as information on financial management issues. The message of the international consortium MUST is categorical for considering the multimedia technologies as having enormous potential in improving communication activities and sharing research results; they will increase the quality of online education and will professionally support university projects with other community stakeholders.

As a result, the MUST project is designed to enhance and diversify the skills of university staff in the creation and effective use of multimedia technologies for education, research, university community projects, advertising, media campaigns, or other similar actions aimed at the local, regional, national, or international community.
