The new Academic Council of UPT inaugurated the Rectors' Gallery

On May 11, 2018, the first session of the Academic Council, an advisory body subordinated to the UPT Rector, part of the UPT Board, took place in the Rector's Hall of Politehnica  University Timişoara. At the time of its establishment, the Council is made up of 12 personalities representing the academic community of UPT, well-knowers of past and present reality, who have proven to have innovative, scientific and managerial skills (former UPT rectors, academics, university professors emeritus , professors with a rich teaching experience, scientific research, managerial skills): Ion Gheorghe Boldea, Ioan Gheorghe Cartiş, Colectia Sabata, Toma-Leonida Dragomir, Teodor Heptu, Gheorghe Lucaci, Alexandru Nichici, Horia Liviu Popa, Viorel Popescu, Radu Radoslav , Rodica Superceanu, Teodor Todinca.

The mission of the Academic Council is to contribute to the sustainable development of the university, its work being focused on the development of studies, information, databases and know-how necessary to make major decisions on the medium and long term development of the engineering training system and UPT's own R & D-innovation.

During the meeting, Mr. prof.dr.ing. Toma-Leonida Dragomir, Chairman of the Board, presented its structure and the objectives envisaged by each of the four specialized committees:

•     Integrated education,
•     R & D and Innovation
•     Academic - Administrative Management
•     Sustainable Progress Strategies.

The Board's activities on topical issues in the didactic field (structure of study programs, recruitment strategies, promotion and stimulation of students at bachelor, master and doctorate level) and in the field of research and innovation were also debated and analyzed.

At the beginning of the Academic Council meeting was inaugurated the hall "Pro Memoria. Rector's Gallery ", a room containing portraits of all UPT rectors, starting with Traian Lalescu, the first rector of the institution.

Those who officially visit the leadership of the Polytechnic University of Timişoara have the opportunity to see what Polytechnic University has been for nearly a hundred years of existence, especially since, in addition to the portraits of all rectors, there are a series of documents attesting to the beginnings of the university , among which the Royal Decree for the establishment of the Polytechnic School, a student card of that time, the list of the first 24 graduates, the first paper in the Politehnica Bulletin, etc. The Hall is meant to be a small homage to all those who created this school and brought it to the prestige they enjoy today, "said today's rector of the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, prof.univ.dr.ing.
