RockIng, created by UPT graduates, released the video for the song "100 de ani" (100 years)

On Monday, November 9, 2020, at the Library of Politehnica University Timișoara, the video of the RockIng band for the song "100 years" was released during a press conference. To celebrate the Centenary of Politehnica University Timișoara, celebrated on November 11, 2020, several renowned musicians from bands that have made history in the field of music, all UPT graduates, came together to form a super-band - RockIng - which will hold a concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the oldest higher education institution in Timisoara.

The project, coordinated by the music director Bogdan Puriș, also a graduate of UPT, involved the preparation and stage performance of 15 famous hits of the groups in which the band members sang, plus a new song, "100 years", dedicated to the UPT Centenary. The lyrics of the new song are composed by another graduate of the Timisoara Polytechnic, the poet and writer Robert Șerban. The video was made by Ovidiu Novac, also a graduate of UPT, as well as the sound engineer, Uțu Pascu.

The RockIng band consists of: Mircea Baniciu - voice, guitar (Phoenix, Pasărea Colibri, Pasărea Rock); Călin Pop - voice, guitar (Celelalte cuvinte); Tiberiu Bako - bass (Cargo, Pro Musica); Teodor Pop - keyboards (Jazzybit); Valentin Potra - battery (Abra, Blazzaj, Impact, Arca), Octavian Horvath (Implant pentru refuz). The members of the band met several times in Timisoara to perform some rehearsals together and to record the new song.

During the meeting with the journalists, the members of the band underlined the intense work that was done for the implementation of the project, they reminisced their student years at Politehnica, and during the press conference the artistic side that many graduates of the institution have. Only in the field of music, many graduates of Politehnica asserted themselves, some of them developing careers abroad, but it was not possible to co-opt everyone due to the coronavirus pandemic. Of those present, some have built careers in the engineering field they graduated from, while others have dedicated themselves only to music.

It was also discussed the possibility of holding a concert with public, when the epidemiological situation would allow it, but also about the very good collaboration between artists of different styles and ages, which could lead to the continuation of the project even beyond the Centenary of the Timișoara Polytechnic.

On November 11, from 20:00, the concert of the RockIng band will be broadcast online - on the UPT channels (Facebook page of Politehnica University Timișoara, the Youtube channel Teleuniversitatea Timișoara).
