Politehnica University Timisoara has a professional insertion rate of enlightened graduates, close to the maximum limit. In order to achieve this performance, UPT has established a good relationship with the economic environment in Timisoara and the area, including the establishment of a Steering Committee, consisting of representatives of the companies, which advises the management of the university regarding the adaptation of the study programs to the dynamics of the labor market. The cooperation with the economic agents is realized through student internships, support for the undergraduate work and, last but not least, the setting up of laboratories to ensure the applicative part of the theoretical notions learned.

This line also includes the collaboration between UPT and Siemens, a partnership relationship established more than 10 years ago. Good co-operation has now also materialized with the inauguration of a modern laboratory of "Programable Automata and SCADA Systems" in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Power Engineering.

The inauguration of the new Siemens laboratory took place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in the presence of the leadership of Politehnica University Timisoara, Siemens Romania and Electric Sys, as well as other guests.

The new "Programmable Automata and SCADA Systems" laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical and Power Engineering is already functional and represents the most recent modernization within the University. With the support of Siemens and the contribution of Electric Sys, one of Siemens' partners in Timisoara, the laboratory was equipped with equipment worth tens of thousands of euros. The new Siemens laboratory will be used to implement the theoretical notions learned by about 150 undergraduate and master students. The six full work stands contain equipment dedicated to industrial automation systems, including related software items (soft licenses).

At the ceremony, the Rector of Politehnica University Timisoara, prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Şerban, PhD, presented a short chronology of the nearly 100 years of UPT, the results of the scientific research carried out within the university, the nearly 1,000 research contracts conducted over the past 5 years with various companies, the good collaboration with the economic field in Timisoara, materialized also by setting up the Steering Committee: "I would like to mention that we went through the Politehnica Days. There have been 10 days to show the strength of Politehnica. To show that this force does not only exist during the holidays, it is a continuous action of what is meant by Politehnica University Timişoara for the educational and economic environment, here we are today at a new inauguration, this time a laboratory worth tens of thousands of euros. It is a laboratory that will be used by both our young students and the research side. The lab will ensure that students are up to date with what's happening in the economic environment. "

Cristian Secosan, CEO of Siemens Romania, graduate of Politehnica Timisoara, said at the inauguration: "We consider education a key area for the development of society. Universities are prepared to respond to the demands of the economy, but in order to have the best prepared young people, it is necessary for the private environment to take an active role and to communicate openly the identified needs and challenges. We are glad that we can offer young people the opportunity to be better prepared and run a series of programs inside the company to support their development. "

Also, on this occasion, in the presence of the leaders of Politehnica University Timisoara, and Siemens and Electric Sys companies, was presented the "Control of energy conversion and storage" research center of the Electrical Engineering Department, as well as of the research projects carried out within the department.
