The EcoSec project at MPT
Sustainable development in the context of circular economy
On February 26, 2019, at the Faculty of Management in Production and Transportation, University Politehnica Timisoara, there were held workshops to launch the project on "organizational capacity assessment for sustainable development in the context of circular economy (EcoSec)".
The project aims to develop a web platform that integrates a tool for organizational assessment and equip a laboratory with evaluation equipment. The tool helps to diagnose organizations' capacity for sustainable development, develops a personalized strategic action plan to follow the principles of the circular economy, and develops a self-training manual that helps improve the current situation. Laboratory work to be accomplished / developed will help master students understand the concept of sustainable development more easily.
An important objective of the project is to research the needs of enterprises to develop a tool that evaluates organizational capacity for sustainability. Finally, based on research, a tool that integrates the benefits of the concept of sustainability will be developed.
" EcoSec is a project we have obtained through an internal competition within UPT and has a budget of 47.600 lei and its implementation will end in April 2020. The objective is to develop a platform tool for evaluating organizations. It will be used both in teaching and seminars and at the student courses, but we also want to be a tool for organizations that will always be customized to be useful for business as well. Moreover, we also want to equip this laboratory with tablets, laptops, and smart projector which can be easily used for presentations. Why was this project needed? Because there was no platform integrating all the needs of sustainable development and a platform integrating sustainability requirements and standards in the field was needed, and students and master students did not have access to such a very useful and necessary tool for doing business", explained Larisa Ivaşcu, Project Manager, at the launch conference.
