The Librarian’s Day at BCUPT

Throughout the world, on April 23rd, the Librarian's Day and the World Book Day have been celebrated at UNESCO's initiative since 1996. On this day, in almost all countries of the world, commemorations of the book, authors, publishers, librarians, librarians and, implicitly, readers are organized.

The Central Library of Politehnica University Timișoara has been marking this day in a more special way, also making the people behind the books, those who work in warehouses and archives and make possible the proper functioning of the library known to the world.

BCUPT readers have been greeted with candy today and have found out that, in addition to librarians at the entrance or floor information desk, dozens of people who we do not usually see work in the purchasing, evidence and document exchange, indexing, marketing-IT, handling and restoring documents departments. Even if they are unseen, their work makes the BCUPT work under the best conditions for the 1000-1,500 readers who pass the threshold daily.

The idea of ​​marking the Day of the Librarian and the World Book Day on April 23rd was suggested by Spain, where the Rose Festival is held this day, a celebration celebrating Saint George (San Jordi) and commemorating Miguel de Cervantes, next to by William Shakespeare. On this day, in Spain, since the Middle Ages, girls and women receive flowers and men - books.
