UPT at European Researchers Night
Politehnica University Timisoara participated, for the second consecutive year, in the Night of the European Researchers, event that took place this year on September 27, in over 300 cities in Europe, of which 22 from Romania.
UPT also respected this time the coat of arms of higher education institution of advanced education and research, participating in the event with several works that prove the level at which they are located.
In Timișoara, Politehnica participated in the event organized by Nokia, one of the important partners of the institution, with several stands presenting the activities of several research teams: Dynamic LED display system based on POV (Cosmin Cîrlea ) ; Walkway for the urban motorway for cyclists in Munich (Andrada Negruț); Simulator of didactic maneuvers realized as an Arduino application (lecturer eng. Ilona Bucătariu, PhD); Presentation of research activities and applications using intelligent computing (neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary computing, group intelligence, deep learning ), dedicated / embedded systems (ARM Cortex, TI Drive Assist TDA 2x, TDA 3x, FPGA Altera, Xilinx, TPU, Movidius Myriad ), artificial sight (capture, representation, preprocessing, feature extraction, segmentation, detection, 3D and 2D recognition) - coordinator prof. eng. Cătălin Căleanu, PhD; Experimental stand for the study of alternative propulsion solar panels used in motor vehicles ( stud. Robert-Valentin Ghişoiu, lect. eng. Sorin Raţiu, PhD, as. eng. Cornelius Birtok-Baneasa, PhD); Pneumotronic system for testing and verifying the product seat belt (students Ioan Daniel Buta and Alexandru Ionuț Dineș, coordinated by lect. Ec. eng. Vasile Alexa, PhD); Tubular briquette of ferrous powdery waste (a group of teachers from the Faculty of Engineering in Hunedoara); Super - aspirating air filter (as eng. Corneliu Birtok-Băneasă, PhD); Installation for the determination of the resistance to thermal fatigue ( conf. eng. Camelia Pinca-Bretotean, PhD); MicroU and BirCor (as eng. Corneliu Birtok-Băneasă, PhD). The ID / IFR and e- Learning Center and the Multimedia Center at UPT welcomed smaller and older visitors with the latest innovations in augmented and virtual reality applications and games, digital and photo -video skills. Mihai Petru Mărghitaș was also present at the event and impressed the public with the objects made on the 3D printer he built.
The night of the European Researchers was celebrated by Politehnica University Timisoara and at the Faculty of Engineering of Hunedoara, which also organized, on September 27, 2019, between the hours of 17:00-22:00, the fourth edition of NCEFIH. Visitors had the opportunity to interactively participate in all the activities / experiments carried out during the event, to register for the raffle, to visit the exhibitions of graphics, drawing and painting, to attend presentations from different fields.
Among the attractions of NCEFIH2019 we mention: "Creative Dwarfs" - works presented by creative children from pre-school and primary education in Italy; Symeryeny Creation Laboratory, in which the students of the fourth grade from the "Anghel Saligny" High School in Simeria carried out various interactive experiments; Bicycle charging any tablet or phone; Fantasy World - an exhibition of graphic illustrations; The Deva 750 project; The robot that won 5 gold medals in the FIRST Global Challenge in Mexico; The new flexible production line within FIH. The soul, but also one of the main organizers of the event is the "golden child" of Romanian invention, as. eng. Corneliu Birtok-Baneasa, PhD, UPT teacher, medalist of most of the inventions salons in the country and in Europe.
