UPT teachers, awarded by the Romanian Academy

The Romanian Academy awarded the prizes for the best Romanian cultural and scientific works and presences made during 2018 at the beginning of December. This year, due to the pandemic, the awards ceremony took place online. The laureates were nominated by the Bureau of the Presidium, headed by acad. Ioan-Aurel Pop, president of the Romanian Academy.

The Romanian Academy awards 81 prizes, each bearing the name of a personality from the cultural or scientific field represented in the 14 sections of the Romanian Academy: philology and literature, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geonomy, technical sciences, agronomy and forestry, medicine, economics, legal sciences and sociology, philosophy, theology, psychology and pedagogy, arts, architecture and audiovisual, science and information technology. Out of the total of 81 awards, for 2018 were awarded 71 works or groups of works, individual creations, or elaborated by groups of authors.

Politehnica University Timisoara was honored this year with the following awards:

1. „Aurel Vlaicu” Prize of the Romanian Academy in the category “Technical Sciences” for the group of works: Mechanical characterization of advanced cellular materials, authors Emanoil Linul and Nima Movahedi (Australia).

2. „Tudor Tănăsescu“ Prize of the Romanian Academy in the category “Information Science and Technology” for a group of 3 scientific papers: Data-driven techniques for granting the parameters of regulators, authors Raul-Cristian Roman and Radu-Emil Precup.

3. The "Gheorghe Cartianu" Award of the Romanian Academy in the category "Information Science and Technology" for a group of 4 scientific papers: Methods and databases to improve visibility in images affected by fog, authors Codruţa O. Ancuţi, and Cosmin Ancuţi.
