Women with a career in science celebrated at UPT

To celebrate the International Day of Girls and Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), which is celebrated on February 11, Politehnica University Timisoara, through the e-Learning Center, in collaboration with EducaTM, IEEE Romania, the One Source Association and IEEE Women in Engineering, organized a webinar, in the Together Online series. Women who have an impressive career in STEM fields, as well as teenagers passionate about fields such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, participated in the event.

The event had honored the growing contribution of women in science, in the technical fields, and also to share personal stories and inspiration for STEM education and careers. More than 1,500 people attended, both on Zoom and live on the Facebook pages of CeL, CM, and UPT.

The session was moderated by Dr. Eng. Diana Andone, Ph.D. - director of the UPT e-Learning Center and Radu Ticiu - EducaTM and the webinar guests were prof. eng. Elena Helerea, Ph.D. - IEEE Women in Engineering, Transilvania University in Brasov, prof. eng. Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, Ph.D. - Politehnica University Timișoara, vice-president of the International Association of Medical Informatics, associate professor eng. Alina Dumitrel, Ph.D. - vice-rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, Elena Ciocan - BTS OAM DU Head, Nokia Romania, Delia Golcea - High-Tech mentor and Angel Investor, Ioana-Cristina BENEA - Ph.D. student, Politehnica University Timișoara, Laura Chirilă - student, "Carmen Sylva" National Pedagogical College Timișoara, Denisa Lepădatu - student, "Vasile Alecsandri" National College Galați, interested in genomics, AI, transhumanism, and Cristina Cordun - M.Sc. student in Astronomy, Leiden University.

Participation was free and the attendees received Open Badges (Open Digital Certificates).
