Prof. John Argyris (19.08.1916, Volos, Grecia)

Outstanding specialist in the field of computers, aeronautics and mechanics of fluids, member of the Royal Aeronautic Society of London and of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, honorary member of the New York Academy of Sciences and of the Romanian Academy. His activity is reflected by more than 400 studies and by his participation to various European scientific programmes in the mechanics of fluids and computer applications.

 

Prof. Otto Meininger (08.05.1927, Munchen)

Rector of the prestigious Technical University of Munich, a scientist and a European cultural personality, known for his important achievements in architecture and historical monuments restoration, member of a great number of European scientific forums, laureate with important distinctions such as `The German Merit Cross`, `Etoiles Noirs Commander Cross of the French Honorary Legion` and "The Knight Cross of the Papal San Silvester Order`.

 

Prof. Jacques Rondal (17.10.1944, Belgia)

Professor and Head of Mechanics of Materials and Buildings Stability Department at the University of Liege, an appreciated scientist in the field of metallic structures, active member of 11 national and international bodies and associations. A great and constant friend of the Romanians, initiator and scientific adviser of valuable projects in favour of the Technical University of Timisoara.

 

Prof. Hans-Jurgen Warnecke (1934 Braunschweig, Germania)

Professor at the Technical University of Stuttgart, one of the most outstanding personalities of the contemporary technical community. The creator of fractal production. Scientist with remarkable contributions in the field of production, industrial automation and robots, developed throughout 10 books and 950 articles. The president of the Munich `Fraunhofer` Society and the president of the German Association of Engineers (VDI), Honorary Member of the Romanian Society of Mechanical Engineers.

 

Prof. Miomir Vukobratovici (1931, Zrenianin, Iugoslavia)

Director of the Robotics Laboratory and president of the Scientific Board of `Mihailo Pupin` Institute of Belgrade, a remarkable specialist in the field of dynamic systems modelling and robots, the creator of the sensitivity theory in robotics. Researcher of the biomechanics of human functions. Author of many scientific works. Member of the Academy of Arts and Science of Serbia.

  
 

Prof. Dieter Schraft (02.02.1942, Stuttgart, Germania)

Director of the most important world institute for the research of production automation - IPA Stuttgart - and the current president of the International Association of Robotics. An outstanding scientific personality, very well-known due to his 20 volumes and 300 articles dealing with the problems of industrial robots manufacturing, robot technologies and robotics in services. Member of 12 scientific organisations from Germany, England, Japan, the United States, Israel, Sweden. Member of the editorial board of 3 technical journals from Germany and Japan.

 

Academician Radu Voinea (24.05.1923, Craiova, Romania)

Outstanding specialist in the field of applied mechanics, professor at the Polytechnics of Bucharest, well-known both in Romania and abroad because of his prodigious scientific activity and of his special academic personality. President of the Romanian Academy during one of its most difficult periods, he succeeded in keeping it the main cultural and scientific forum of the country due to his personal moral and intellectual strength. Author of a great number of treaties and scientific studies, most of them in the field of mechanics of solid applied to engineering.

 

Professor Ichiro Maekawa (Japonia)

Professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo and professor at the Kanagawa Institute for Technology. Well-known internationally for his remarkable contributions made throughout 100 scientific studies in the field of wear under shocks and influence of high-distortion speeds upon some materials status. Member of many scientific bodies from Japan. A constant partner of the `Politehnica` University of Timisoara during the last 15 years.

 

Academician Virgiliu Nicolae Constantinescu (27.03.1931, Bucuresti, Romania)

Excellent personality of the scientific world, well-known due to his very original work in the field of lubrification, trans-sonic and supersonic energies. More than 200 articles published, 7 patents and 18 treaties. He was awarded the `Aurel Vlaicu` Prize of the Romanian Academy in 1981 and the quality of collaborator for NASA and the American Commission for Atomic Energy in the Naval Research Office. In 1993 was elected member of the European Academy of Science, Arts and Letters and Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Poitiers (France). President of the Romanian Academy in 1994. In 1995 he was conferred the French Honorary Legion distinction.

 

Academician Mircea Malita (20.02.1927, Oradea, Romania)

Complex and thorough personality in which the initial mathematical education has perfectly merged with the philosophic and diplomatic instruction. Well-known for his remarkable mathematics and philosophic studies translated into more than 11 foreign languages. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1962-1970. Minister of Education and supporter of the importance of computers in every domain. Member of many Romanian and international bodies, Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Chebaksari, cofounder of the European Cultural Centre (1991), member of the Romanian Academy.

 

Prof. Federico M. Mazzolani (31.01.1038, Milan, Italia)

Professor at the `Federico II` University of Naples, a documented specialist in the field of structures theory, mechanical contributions and seismic engineering. Author of more than 300 studies and 12 books, with a prodigious collaboration with many universities from Europe, Asia, America and Australia. An outstanding activity in the field of aluminium structures. Main author of the 28th volume of the European Union`s ESDEP, i.e. a general textbook of metallic constructions.

 

Academician Dan Mateescu (15.11.1911, Calarasi, Romania)

Outstanding personality of the `Politehnica` University and of Romanian scientific community, school founder and remarkable specialist in the field of mechanical constructions. Graduate of the Polytechnic School of Berlin-Charlotenburger in 1934, well-known through his exceptional technical achievements and a wonderful academic activity along 37 generations of students. Over 210 scientific studies and 18 speciality treaties have acknowledged him in Romania and abroad. Since 1974, member of the Romanian Academy.

 

Profesor doctor inginer Ioan Dumitrache

Graduated from the Faculty of Energetics in Bucharest, in 1962; in 1970, he received the PhD degree in Automizing and Electric Systems; from 1982, he is professor in ordinary at the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest. He achieved the title of DHC in October 12th, 2000.

 

Profesor doctor inginer Jean-Marie Aribert

Graduated from the University of Toulouse in 1962; he received the PhD degree in Hydrodynamics in 1965 and in Physics in 1970; now, he is professor at INSA Rennes, France.
He achieved the title of DHC in September 17th , 2001.

 

 

Doctor Gianfranco Zopass

Diplomat in Industrial Economy at University Urbino from Italy; he attended postgraduate courses at the Swish Institute Imede from Lausanne; he is the executive president of the Group "Zopass Industries", Italy. He achieved the title of DHC in September 28th , 2001.

Prof. BRANISLAV TODOROVIC (7 January 1931, Belgrad, Serbia)
Scientific figure widely recognized in the field of HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning), professor at University of Belgrade and South-East University in Nanjing (Permanent visiting professor), editor of the journals "Energy & Buildings" (published by Elsevier) and "Serbian HVAC", and member of several professional and international associations. He was awarded prizes and medals by the Yugoslav Government, the Belgrade City Hall, the Fulbright Foundation, ASHRAE, HERVA and AHR Timisoara. On 22nd of NOvember 2012, Prof. Branislav TODOROVIC has been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of our university.
